SARATOK: Police are searching for a licensed prisoner who disappeared after violating the terms of his release under the Licensed Prisoner Release Programme (PBSL).

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the man, identified as Mohamad Hamizul Mohd Kiprawi, 30, had been placed under supervised release by the Kuching Parole and Community Service Office.

He is believed to have absconded from his designated residence at No. 3/451, Jalan Haji Puteh Ellias.

“We received a police report regarding Hamizul, a licensed prisoner from Sri Aman central prison, who was supposed to serve his PBSL order until Jul 15.

“He was assigned to reside at No. 3/451, Jalan Haji Puteh Ellias but has been missing since Jun 8.

“Hamizul is now considered to have breached the conditions of his release under Section 43(1) of the Prisons Act 1995, which requires licensed prisoner to remain at and not leave their designated residence,” he said in a statement.

Mathew urged members of the public with information on his whereabouts to come forward and report them to Saratok police station chief SM Nara Medan at 019-8579113.
