Partial remains of croc attack victim recovered from river

LAWAS: The remains of mutilated elderly man feared to have been attacked by a crocodile, were found at Sungai Kampung Siang-Siang Laut here last night (Sept 10).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the villagers discovered a human head about 500 metres upstream where the victim was last seen.

Acting on the information received at 11.20 pm, rescuers were promptly deployed to the scene to recover the human part.

It was later confirmed through family identification that the partial remains belonged to Taha Lamat, 80 which have been handed over to the police for further action.

The search operation to locate the rest of the victim’s body resumed today along the upstream area until further notice.

On Tuesday (Sept 9), Taha was reported missing after bathing in the river near Kampung Siang-Siang Laut at around 6 pm.

His family later found only his towel and slippers at the scene before reporting the incident to authorities.
