KUCHING: Sarawak Skills and FGV Holdings Berhad recently sealed a partnership to enhance human capital development through the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC), signalling a stronger push towards industry-driven Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Sarawak Skills chief strategy officer Mohammad Isham Fauzi described the collaboration as a key milestone in elevating training quality and relevance.
“This MoC represents an important milestone in our efforts to reinforce collaboration in human capital development.
“Through this partnership, we are not only elevating training standards but also ensuring that the skills and competencies we cultivate remain highly relevant to the industry landscape, especially within the plantation and agribusiness sectors,” he said.
He added that the partnership supports Sarawak Skills’ mandate to close gaps between training providers and industry players, ensuring programmes remain aligned with technological changes and current industry demands.
Meanwhile, FGV Holdings Berhad Head of Human Capital Development Mahafiz Kassim said the collaboration aligns with the National TVET Policy 2030, which emphasises stronger industry-academia synergy.
“The MoC is a strategic alignment that responds to the call of the National TVET Policy 2030. This collaboration embodies an industry-driven TVET model, where the knowledge and training materials developed are directly absorbed into FGV’s real operational environment,” he said.
Mahafiz noted the partnership will also support FGV’s efforts to modernise its plantation operations, integrate digital systems and adopt more sustainable practices, strengthening its future talent pipeline.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in supporting Malaysia’s goal of becoming a regional leader in TVET excellence.
Meanwhile, the event also recognised participants who completed the Written Instructional Materials (WIM) Workshop, which trains educators to develop standardised and structured instructional modules based on competency-based training.
Conducted under the Job Guarantee Programme, the workshop aims to boost employability among TVET graduates by ensuring their training directly meets workforce requirements.
