KUCHING: Achieving the ambitious goals of the 2025 Sarawak Budget requires more than just government efforts, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He stressed that partnerships involving the public sector, private enterprises, and civil society are important in driving innovation, investments and inclusive development.

Such collaborations, he noted, are vital for driving sustainable growth across Sarawak.

“As we embark on our journey toward a prosperous and
sustainable future, let us remember that the success of Sarawak is
not determined by the efforts of one, but by the collective
commitment of all, including the government, private enterprises,
academia, civil society and the citizens,” he said.

Abang Johari said this during the 2025 Sarawak Budget Conference at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today (Dec 3).

During the event, he witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SALIHIN and Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE).

Abang Johari said the partnership exemplifies the spirit of collaboration driving Sarawak forward by strengthening human capital development and fostering digital transformation.

“It also nurtures sustainable progress while positioning Sarawak at the forefront of innovation and excellence,” he asserted.

The Premier assured that enhancing the competitiveness of Sarawak’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the global market remains a priority.

He noted that the Sarawak government has allocated RM39.7 million for 2025 to implement 19 targeted projects and programmes across various ministries, aimed at strengthening the capacity and capabilities of SMEs.

“These programmes include entrepreneurs training and development, SME and micro credit schemes, digitalisation programmes, promotion and marketing, product development, incubator programmes, agro and contractors’ development funds,” he added.
