KUCHING: The continuity of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) depends on the struggle of the youth generation within the party.
According to Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department for Integrity and Ombudsman, Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, this signal was clearly conveyed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the president of PBB, in a statement today.
He said that the Premier’s forward-thinking vision as a leader is to ensure that the party remains relevant with the changing times, science, technology, digital development, and the increasingly complex political landscape.
“If PBB wishes to continue existing, it must immediately undergo transformation by training as many new generations as possible to co-lead the party alongside the older generation, who may be running out of ideas,” he said in a statement.
He added that all parties must be mature and provide space for the new generation to be trained and take over when the time is right, as many of the current leaders in the party are approaching or have exceeded the age of 70, with some having served the party for more than 30 years.
As the chief of the Jamoreng branch, Juanda believes it is appropriate for the mandate and trust to be handed over to a new generation of leaders who have potential and talent to lead the party, ensuring its continued relevance and acceptance by the people for generations to come.
