KUCHING: Sarawak will host the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart from August 18 to 20 next year at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), positioning the state as a hub for tourism innovation and reaffirming its role as the Gateway to Borneo.

The international event, which will bring together tourism stakeholders from across the globe, complements Visit Malaysia 2026 and supports Sarawak’s growth strategies under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) and Sarawak Tourism Master Plan 3.0.

Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) Chief Executive Officer, Sharzede Salleh Askor, said that the hosting opportunity demonstrates the state’s readiness to participate in global tourism conversations.

“Sarawak is more than a destination; it is the natural entry point to one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.

“Hosting PTM 2026 allows us to connect Borneo with the world while championing tourism that is meaningful, sustainable and inclusive,” she said.

STB’s ‘Sarawak, Gateway to Borneo’ campaign, which highlights the state’s pillars of Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals (CANFF), was recently recognised with the PATA Gold Award for Best Destination Marketing Campaign.

Sarawak also has a proven track record in hosting international events, including the Rainforest World Music Festival, International Energy Week 2025 and the ICCA Congress 2016.

BCCK, with a capacity of more than 4,000 delegates, will serve as the venue for PATA Travel Mart (PTM) 2026, underscoring Sarawak’s capability to deliver world-class events while maintaining its commitment to sustainability.
