KUCHING: The Children’s Ward at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) was uplifted by a gesture of compassion and community spirit through a special visit organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, SJK Chung Hua No. 5 Kuching.

The initiative, themed ‘We Love, We Care’, was held on Saturday and led by the chairman of the Malaysian Red Crescent Stampin Branch, Chew Kim Soon, alongside headmistress of SJK Chung Hua No. 5, Tay Kok Ing.

The delegation brought with them specially prepared “gifts of love” to be presented to each child receiving care in the ward.

The visit aimed to bring cheer and encouragement to the young patients, many of whom are undergoing long-term medical treatment.

The thoughtful gesture was warmly received by the children and their families, who expressed appreciation for the heartfelt outreach.

The success of the visit was made possible through the collaborative efforts and contributions of the school’s parents, teachers, and students.

Their support reflected a strong culture of volunteerism and community engagement.

“This effort embodies the values of care, compassion, and solidarity. A simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on a child’s emotional well-being during recovery,” Chew said during the visit.

The event not only brought smiles to the young patients but also underscored the importance of nurturing empathy and service among students and youth volunteers.
