SIBU: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) must prepare its younger generation to take over the party’s leadership and continue serving Sarawak in the years ahead, says party president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said future leaders must possess sincere intentions and remain committed to serving the people and safeguarding the state’s interests.
“Our duty is towards Sarawakians, especially the younger generation. Hence, we are investing and making sacrifices today for our youth and our future.
“We must prepare our youth to take the helm because their leadership will surely be tested in the years ahead,” he said during the PBB Central Zone Convention at Sibu Indoor Stadium here today (July 26).
The Premier reminded members that past leaders made significant sacrifices for Sarawak—contributions that must always be remembered and honoured by today’s youth.
Reflecting on the passage of time, Abang Johari shared a poignant personal note on the need for seamless succession.
“Let us all be ready to embrace the future. I am sacrificing for the people, but I may not be around forever to see what lies ahead.
“I may no longer be able to ride my motorbike, and my late wife has already gone before me. I am getting older—by 2030, I will be 80 years old.
“Still, I want to remind all of you that PBB must remain ready at all times,” he added.
