KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leaders must ensure that the grassroots, particularly those in coastal and rural areas, receive the support they deserve and are not left behind in mainstream development

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is the party senior vice president said this commitment has been upheld by the Sarawak government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), with PBB as its backbone.

“Our strength lies in the grassroots. We must protect them.

“That was a key message from PBB president and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during his speech at the opening of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) 16th Triennial General Meeting on Saturday.

“It is a reminder that all PBB members must hold on to, always. PBB leaders must ensure that the grassroots, especially those in rural and coastal areas, receive the support they deserve and are not sidelined in development,” he said in a statement.

Fadillah stressed that without the grassroots, PBB would not have remained strong and resilient throughout its 52-year journey.

Echoing the party president’s message, the Petra Jaya MP reaffirmed PBB’s commitment to moving forward with unity in defending Sarawak’s rights within Malaysia.

“The president also highlighted that unity, solidarity, and tolerance are the foundation of PBB’s strength and longevity—values that must be safeguarded at all costs,” he added.

The PBB 16th Triennial General Meeting, themed ‘PBB: The Pillar of Stability, Progress, and Sustainability for Sarawak,’ saw the participation of 3,535 delegates and observers from 82 branches across the state.
