KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) remains committed to ensuring political stability in Sarawak by maintaining unity amid current political challenges.

PBB Pesaka Wing vice-president Datuk Gerawat Gala said the party’s priority is to preserve unity among its members, which has been the foundation of its strength over the years.

“PBB has always been a strong, stable, and united party. Because of that, we have been the stabilising factor at the state level and, in the present political climate, also at the federal level.

“Therefore, the main focus and priority should be to maintain this unity and rally everyone together as a team and support our leader, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“PBB has remained united all these years, and that is how we intend to move forward in the future. Only when we are united, can we continue to be a stabilising factor both in Sarawak and at the federal level,” he said when met at his office in Baitulmakmur Building 1 yesterday (Feb 13).

When asked on PBB’s impact on society within the next five years, the Mulu assemblyman believed that the party would continue to play a key role in the government.

As the backbone of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, PBB will remain highly influential in shaping the state’s development and future.

Gerawat, who is also the Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), said the party plays a strong role in the state government, which will formulate policies and programmes for the people, including economic and social initiatives.

“For instance, we have the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which is the brainchild of Abang Johari. This is the blueprint for our economic development in the future.

“It will also have an impact on our community, as it is not just about economic prosperity, which is one of the pillars. PCDS 2030 also emphasises social inclusivity and environmental sustainability,” he said.
