People-friendly projects boost rural infrastructure, residents’ well-being

SARIKEI: Several new rural infrastructure projects have been implemented in the Sarikei district under the Sarawak Government’s 2025 People-Friendly Projects (PMR), aimed at improving basic facilities and enhancing residents’ wellbeing.

Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities and Sarikei Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, said the projects focus on upgrading infrastructure to improve mobility and support long-term rural development.

He said this during a work completion verification session for development projects in Bintangor.

Among the projects carried out were the upgrading and construction of a concrete road at Lot 198, Jalan Ulu Meradong-Bakong, Bintangor, as well as improvement works and the construction of a pedestrian walkway at Kampung Darul Falah, Sungai Gemuan, Bintangor.

Another project involved upgrading and building a concrete road at Jalan Hashim, Kampung Darul Falah, Sungai Gemuan, Bintangor.

Huang, who is also Repok state assemblyman, was represented at the session by Wong Soon Mee.
