People key to BESarawak success, says Karim

KUCHING: Sarawak’s business events sector draws its strength from its people, said Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He said these individuals play an important role in the success of related sectors such as tourism and hospitality.

And watching the team grow from strength to strength is an incredible opportunity, he added.

“Their small actions and daily efforts are key to the larger picture of BESarawak’s success,” said Abdul Karim who is Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister.  

“Their expertise can help build a stronger and more impactful industry, thus creating a sustainable future for business events in Sarawak,” he said in a press release issued by BESarawak today (Feb 3).

Nine BESarawak employees, who have served between five and fifteen years, were honoured with long service awards at a ceremony during the preview of LEGACY30 – Business Events for a Sustainable Future Forum on Jan 13.

BESarawak chief executive officer (CEO) Amelia Roziman said these recipients are more than employees as they are legacy makers.

“Their extensive knowledge and experience continue to create a positive impact, and we believe they make excellent mentors for future business event leaders.

“We look forward to watching them flourish further in their career and inspire others in their journey,” she said.

Among those recognised was Corporate Management general manager Jacqueline Png, for 15 years of service and Senior Research Executive Alicia Alias who was honoured for a decade of commitment.

Others were Project Liaison manager Bibi Afiqah Abdul Karim, Strategic Communications manager Rose Bruce,  Research Executive (Corporate Meetings & Incentives) Farah Mardziah Zawani Abu Bakar, Senior Bids Executive Chrislynn Siaw Ling Hui, Bid Designer Alexander Sigau, Senior Digital Development Executive Allistair Lorenzo James and Senior Marketing Executive Gary Chan, all of whom were honoured for five years of service.
