KUCHING: The Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) is stepping into the digital transformation era by encouraging its workforce to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance corporate communication and information delivery.
Its chairman Datuk Anyi Ngau said the recognition granted through the MPB Creative AI Video Competition proves that creativity among staff is not confined to specific units or fields, but offers fresh perspectives for daily operations.
“The use of AI in video production provides exposure to evolving job demands.
“For MPB, the main priority is not merely the application of a tool, but how technology is used to deliver clear, engaging, and easily understandable information,” he said at the MPB Excellence Awards Night 2026 held at the Sheraton Hotel last night.
However, Anyi cautioned that the adoption of emerging technologies must be matched with responsibility.
“The content produced must remain accurate, align with MPB’s corporate image and never overlook human judgment.
“Technology can assist and accelerate processes, but verification, judgment and accountability ultimately rest with the officers handling it,” he added.
He noted that providing space and opportunities allows staff from diverse backgrounds to contribute innovative ideas that support the board’s overarching goals.
The event also saw the presentation of the Excellent Service Award (APC) to 25 staff members and the Loyal Service Award (APS) to five long-serving personnel.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, Secretary-General Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof and MPB Director-General Vincent Sawat.
