KUCHING: Pansar Bhd’s whollyowned construction subsidiary Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd has secured a road project in southern Sarawak for about RM217 million.
Perbena Emas had received a letter of acceptance from Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) for the design and build of the proposed Serian-GedongSamarahan dual carriageway highway (Package 1:Simpang Rayang/Munggi Kopi/ Tanah Puteh/Sebemban to Gedong district) for Section 2: upgrading proposed road from Simpang Gedong Isthmus to Simpang Lubok Teranggas (project) via tender.
The project involves the design and construction for the upgrading of approximately 4.0km of the existing JKR R3 from Jalan Lubok Teranggas to Kampung Gedong (currently a 2-lane single carriageway) into a JKR R5-4-lane dual carriageway.
The scope also includes the construction of a new connecting road to Package 1 (Simpang Rayang/Munggu Kopi/Tanah Puteh/Sebemban to Gedong district – Section 1B) as well as the provision of an autonomous rail transit (ART) reserve within the median,bridge works,bicycle tracks,utility corridors,a new roundabout,and the installation of road lighting,traffic lights,road furniture,signage and drainage system,” Pasar said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The 36 month contract, scheduled to commence this month, is expected by Pansar to contribute positively to the group’s earnings and net assets as the project progresses.
In January this year,Perbena Emas was awarded by PWD a contract worth RM477.7 million for the design and build of the proposed Serian-GedongSamarahan dual carriageway highway (Package 1:Simpang Rayang/Munggi Kopi/Tanah Puteh.Sebemban to Gedong district) for Section 1B:new road from Simpang Tanah Puteh to Gedong Isthmus.
The project, with a 36 month contract period, involves the design and construction of an 8.5km new 4 lane PWD R5 road that includes two bridges, an ART reserve, bicycle tracks, utility corridors, road lighting, road furniture, and signs.
Separately,Rimbuan Sawit Bhd said its wholly-owned subsidiary,Jayamax Plantation Sdn Bhd,had resolved by way of a special resolution at its extraordinary generation meeting on Sept 10 to approve the voluntary winding up.
Rimbunan Sawit, in a filing to Bursa Malaysia, said Jayamax, incorporated in 1994 and engaged in oil palm cultivation, ceased operations in September 2024 and has no plans to resume its business or activities.
Rimbunan Sawit sold the Jayamax estate,comprising 5,078 hectares of oil palm plantation,to Mahawangsa Sungai Bok Plantation Sdn Bhd for RM75 million last year.
Jayamax Plantation has appointed Morris Hii Su Ong of Hii & Lee (Secretariatial Services) Sdn Bhd as liquidator for the purpose of the voluntary winding up.
