KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg advised every Sarawakian who was performing their hajj to pay special attention to their health.

He said that due to the hot weather now, hajj pilgrims must use their own discretion to carry out any obligatory acts.

“We should perform this hajj by looking first at the situation; if the weather is too hot, perform the obligatory things first to ensure everything goes smoothly,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the Sarawak Hajj pilgrimage send-off ceremony at the Raia Hotel here last night.

Abang Johari also reminded the pilgrims to obey the Saudi Arabian government’s regulations while they were in the holy land of Makkah.

“Protect the good name of the state and the country during your stay in Makkah and contact the Tabung Haji Sarawak (THS) if there is any problem, as they will help you (pilgrims),” he advised.

The first group of 142 Sarawak pilgrims began their journey to the Holy Land aboard a Malaysia Airlines flight via a feeder flight at 11.20pm last night (June 14).
