KUCHING: The ‘Lindung’ initiative by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) has become a strategic step in strengthening the agency’s role in protecting the community.
The term is a rebranding of PERKESO’s social security protection schemes, launched on 22 August.
Sarawak PERKESO Director, Tan Phang Chia, said the approach is considered more inclusive and impactful in delivering social protection messages widely and effectively.
“Its purpose is to expand outreach, increase awareness, and strengthen public trust in PERKESO as the primary protector of social security,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the PERKESO Engagement Session and Media Appreciation with Sarawak Media held at Bilik Kerangas, The Waterfront Hotel, on Friday night.
Under the rebranding, its products include PERKESO’s Lindung Pekerja, Lindung Kerjaya, Lindung Kendiri and Lindung Kasih.
“These products not only provide protection schemes for salaried employees but also give attention to self-employed individuals who earn additional income,” he said.
PERKESO Sarawak also strengthens its collaboration with the media to widen the reach of its products.
Tan said such collaboration is important to enhance two-way communication for the benefit of the community.
The PERKESO Engagement Session and Media Appreciation in Kuching on Friday night was attended by around 30 media practitioners from various agencies.
He said the session served as a platform for sharing views, ideas and experiences that could foster stronger and more dynamic cooperation.
“PERKESO, through the Communication and Corporate Affairs Division, is also ready to collaborate in news delivery, while ensuring the media has access to the resources needed to produce accurate and useful reports,” he added.
“With continuous support from the media, we believe every PERKESO initiative can bring greater impact to the community.”
