KUCHING: Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia (PERKIM) Kuching branch held its Aidilfitri gathering on today at Dewan Mutiara, Tinggian Demak, bringing together members and guests.

The annual event drew about 170 members and invitees, with Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, among those in attendance.

In her welcoming remarks, PERKIM Kuching Chairwoman, Datuk Seri Sharifah Mordiah Fauzi, expressed appreciation to the organising committee and members for making the event a success.

She also thanked donors, including organisations and individuals, for their contributions towards the smooth running of the gathering.

“The success of this gathering reflects the strong spirit of cooperation and togetherness among our members and supporters,” she said.

The gathering served as a platform to strengthen ties among members while fostering a sense of unity and community in the festive season.

PERKIM remains one of the largest Islamic non-governmental organisations in Sarawak, focusing on welfare, education and religious activities, particularly for Muslim women.

The organisation currently has 24 branches statewide, with Kapit being the latest addition, while the Kuching Branch has more than 500 members from across the division.
