SARATOK: The Pesta Saratok 2025 is scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 6.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said early planning is crucial to ensure the smooth execution of the event.
“This is what we do every year in organising Pesta Saratok where we start meetings about six months before the event.
“And today, we have set the festival dates from June 28 to July 6.
“The highlight of the event, the Regatta Kalaka boat race, will take place from July 4 to 6,” he said.
He said this following the Pesta Saratok 2025 Committee Meeting No.1, chaired by Saratok District officer Muhammad Dino Amid at the Saratok District Office meeting room yesterday.
He explained that the week-long festival will feature a variety of exciting activities.
“Our initial proposals include Saratok Kitchen, cooking competitions, dart tournaments, petanque contests, blood donation drives, basketball tournaments, fun runs, development exhibitions, decorated boat parades, traditional games like spinning tops (pangkah gasing), blowpipe shooting (menyumpit), and cultural performances such as bertandak and bergendang.
“Additionally, there will be a beauty pageant, fishing competitions, tug-of-war tournaments, and a marketplace.
“We hope that this year’s festival will boost the local economy even more than in previous years.
“We will do our best to enhance the festival experience, welcoming visitors from all walks of life to celebrate Pesta Saratok 2025,” he said, as the festival’s patron.
Mohamad also called for full commitment from the organising committee to develop a strong strategic plan to ensure that Pesta Saratok and Regata Kalaka 2025 will be the best edition yet.
