LAMBIR: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) continued to support rural communities through two outreach programmes focused on education assistance and festive aid distribution at SK Lambir Village on Sunday (Dec 15).
Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Deputy Minister cum Lambir assemblyman Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat officiated at the ‘PETRONAS Powering Knowledge: Back to School @ Lambir’ and ‘PETRONAS Memacu Kehidupan Krismas Lambir’ programmes.
Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported that the Back to School initiative provided complete schooling sets to 300 pupils, including uniforms, shoes, bags, pencil cases and basic stationery to assist families preparing for the new school term.
Meanwhile, the Christmas aid programme benefitted 120 households through the distribution of basic food items to help with festive preparations and daily living costs.
“Both initiatives target rural families in need, aiming to ease preparations for the new school year and reduce financial pressure ahead of the Christmas season, in line with PETRONAS’ corporate social responsibility commitments,” it said.
The programmes were carried out in collaboration with the Sarawak Education Department (JPNS) and the Sarawak Welfare Department (JKM) to ensure assistance reached the intended recipients.
