PETRONAS presents food baskets to flood victims

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) Sarawak branch continues to reinforce its commitment to assisting flood victims in the Samarahan area by donating 800 food baskets to affected families.

Norazibah (fifth right) presents a food basket to a representative at PPS Balairaya Kampung Nangka.

The contribution, distributed to 13 Temporary Relief Centres (PPS) in the division, was carried out in collaboration with the Samarahan Division Disaster Management Committee.

Among the PPS receiving the food baskets are PPS SK Endap, PPS Kampung Nangka City Hall, PPS Entingan Village Hall, PPS Dewan Sri Budaya Niup, PPS SK Sampun Tebun, PPS SK Haji Kelali Semera, and PPS Sadong Heritage Hall.

Additionally, the aid extends to PPS Dewan Haji Bujang Rangawan, PPS Lutong Sebangan Village Community Hall, PPS Kampung Arus Melayu Village Hall, PPS Sebuyau District Development Council, PPS Dewan Mesra Simunjan, and PPS Building Community Hall.

General manager of PETRONAS Sarawak branch, Norazibah Md Rabu, expressed hope that the donation would help alleviate the burden of flood victims in Samarahan.

“This initiative also aims to support government agencies involved in managing the disaster.

“I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all volunteers and rescue teams who worked together to ensure the safe evacuation of flood victims to the PPS in this division,” he said.

He made these remarks during a symbolic food basket handover ceremony at the Samarahan Division Resident’s Office today.

Earlier, Norazibah also presented a symbolic handover of the food basket donation to the Samarahan Division Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, who serves as chairman of the Samarahan Division Disaster Management Committee.

Donations, including essential supplies such as bottled water, food, biscuits, and disposable diapers, will also be channeled to the Disaster Management Committees of each respective district.
