PETROS chips in for flood victims

KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) received a RM2 million donation from Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) to support ongoing efforts in assisting residents affected by floods.

The donation was presented by PETROS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bugo, to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who also serves as the SDMC chairman and witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

According to Hamid Bugo, the donation is aimed at providing essential aid and support to those affected by the floods.

“We recognise the hardships faced by many communities due to the floods, and PETROS remains committed to working with the Sarawak government and SDMC to ensure that assistance reaches those in need.

“On this occasion, PETROS also expresses its sympathy to all those affected and deeply respects the resilience of the community in facing these challenges,” he said in a press statement following the donation handover ceremony.

He said PETROS will continue collaborating with relevant authorities to provide necessary assistance, including supplying essential goods, equipment, and logistical support to flood victims.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Deputy State Secretary (Administration) and SDMC deputy chairman Datuk Buckland Bangik and PETROS board member Datuk  Zuraimi Sabki.
