NANJING: Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS) and China Jiangsu International Economic Technology Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI) has inked a Framework Agreement for the multiphase development of the Kuching Low-Carbon Hub (KLCH).
The signing builds on PETROS’ appointment of CJI as one of the two anchor partners for KLCH which was formalised through the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Agreement on May 20 this year.
As an anchor partner, CJI is collaborating with PETROS on the development of industrial parks and supporting infrastructure, the proposed deep-sea port, LNG-to-power initiatives, and investment mobilisation for KLCH.
The Framework Agreement signing ceremony took place at CJI Headquarters here today with PETROS represented by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Janin Girie, while CJI by its President, Zhu Xingbao.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, and PETROS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo.
Under the agreement, PETROS will lead and oversee the overall masterplan to ensure alignment with Sarawak’s long-term economic and energy strategies.
Meanwhile, CJI will provide strategic and technical expertise to bolster KLCH’s techno-commercial capabilities.
Both parties will also tap into CJI’s wide network to attract credible investors and strategic partners, thus strengthening KLCH’s ambition to become a regional hub for advanced and low-carbon industries.
