KUCHING: The partnership between Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS) marks a significant milestone in the development of Sarawak’s oil and gas industry, reinforcing the state’s strategic role in the national energy landscape.
While congratulating Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on the collaboration, Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) president Datuk Abang Helmi Ikhwan also commended Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his commitment to ensuring a seamless transition as PETROS assumes its new role as Sarawak’s sole petroleum and gas aggregator.
“We believe this partnership not only exemplifies the spirit of federalism in the country but also respects Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“Moreover, we believe this collaboration will pave the way for greater opportunities for local entrepreneurs and businesses within the oil and gas sector.
“We are optimistic that the joint efforts of Petronas and PETROS will lead to increased investment, technological advancement, and capacity building, ultimately benefiting the people of Sarawak,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
Looking ahead, Helmi assured that DUBS remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the interests of bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sarawak and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact of this strategic partnership on the local economy.
“Once again, we congratulate the Premier and all stakeholders involved in this landmark agreement.
“Together, let us work towards a prosperous future for Sarawak and its people,” he said.
