KUCHING: Petrosains PlaySmart Kuching is expected to be closed from July 14 until mid-February 2026 to facilitate essential maintenance and improvement works at the Kuching Civic Centre.
In a statement issued by Petrosains today, this closure is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety, comfort and enhanced experience of all visitors.
“During this period, the Petrosains PlaySmart Kuching team will take the opportunity to strengthen collaborations with kindred organisations across Sarawak.
“Through these strategic partnerships, Petrosains aims to bring more impactful outreach programmes to communities, igniting curiosity and inspiring change in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning.
“As the social impact arm of PETRONAS in STEM education, Petrosains PlaySmart Kuching will also continue supporting initiatives such as Discover PETRONAS @ School, broadening its reach to students and helping to strengthen STEM literacy and competencies across schools in the region,” it said.
Petrosains PlaySmart Kuching is one of four satellite centres established to expand access to hands-on STEM learning beyond the Klang Valley.
The other centres are located in Johor Bahru, Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu, with free admission offered at all locations.
From January to June 2025 alone, Petrosains PlaySmart Kuching has recorded over 54,000 visitors.
Its last day of operation before the temporary closure will be tomorrow (Sunday, July 13).
Petrosains also welcomes new collaboration opportunities with more organisations committed to empowering communities and levelling up the STEM playfield.
