KUCHING: The Women’s Association (PEWANI) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch has been lauded for its commitment to providing a platform that supports women through development programmes and leadership opportunities.
Wife of Sarawak Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, emphasised that such platforms are vital for women to navigate life’s challenges, including career demands and family responsibilities.

“In Sarawak, women continue to contribute across various fields despite facing various challenges.
“In this context, PEWANI UiTM plays an important role in supporting women through development programmes, welfare activities and leadership opportunities,” she said in her speech at the PEWANI Hi-Tea Programme at Cha Cha Moon Restaurant here today.
The event, attended by approximately 100 guests, served as a strategic platform to strengthen ties and foster collaboration between PEWANI and the Astana Negeri Sarawak.
Reflecting on the event’s theme themed ‘English Royal Tea Party: Bloom and Grace’, Fauziah noted that ‘bloom’ symbolises continuous growth, while ‘grace’ reflects dignity and wisdom, values she described as highly relevant to women, particularly mothers.
“The role of a mother is central in shaping family stability and social harmony. With wisdom and refinement, a good mother becomes a bridge that unites and strengthens the family,” she added.
Meanwhile, PEWANI chairperson, Siti Nur Aishah Jaafar @ Abdullah, stated that the hi-tea was more than just a social gathering.
“This programme was organised to open wider avenues of collaboration between PEWANI and the Astana, in line with the aspiration of empowering the role of women in society,” she said.
The event, which adhered to proper protocol while maintaining a friendly atmosphere, concluded with Fauziah expressing hope that the strategic relationship with the Astana would continue to flourish for mutual benefit.
