KAPIT :All Care Pharmacy here last Thursday successfully held a health care screening held at its premises next to the Hock Ing Methodist Church here.
The health care screening, from 9am to 3pm, focused on bone density and uric acid.
Around 60 members of the public were screened for their bone density and uric acid level.
According to pharmacist, Ting King Yiing, the organiser and proprietor of All Care Pharmacy,
last year, less than five per cent of the public screened showed good bone condition. This year around, about 20 per cent of the those screened showed good bone condition.
“Through this bone density screening, we hopeto promote awareness among the members of the public regarding the importance of calcium in our diet and the danger of osteoporosis.
“Calcium supplements are important if one doesn’t consume enough dairy products like milk and cheese. The health screening campaign is also to educate the public not to simply take pain killers for pain before checking on the uric acid level. Long term taking of painkillers can damage the kidney and liver. People should modify their diet and eat healthy food in order to stay healthy,” added Ting.
The technicians for the bone density tests came from Abbott Laboratories Malaysia Sdn Bhd while the uric acid level tests were carried out by the technicians from All Care Pharmacy.
