SERIAN: The Phase 1 upgrading works of Jalan Padawan from Tapah to Teng Bukap is progressing smoothly under the newly appointed ‘rescue’ contractor.

Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said despite the current weather conditions limiting the pace of work, the project remains on track and is being implemented according to schedule.

“We let the contractor complete it properly. But based on the Public Works Department’s (PWD’s) report, the progress is going well as planned,” the Tarat Assemblyman said.

He was speaking to reporters after officiating the PETRONAS Uplifting Lives Gawai 2025 programme at Kampung Tarat Melawi today.

Previously, the Sarawak PWD reported that Phase 1 of the project spans 14.9 kilometres from Tapah to the Teng Bukap Junction.

The works are being carried out in accordance with PWD R3 road geometry standards, aimed at improving road safety and accessibility for the area.

“Road clearing activities are currently underway, alongside slope remediation, soil nailing, and pipeline relocation and protection works.

“Other planned components include the installation of street lighting, gantry signage, additional P-turn traffic points, and resurfacing at the main highway entrance,” the department said.
