SIBU: Two of Sibu’s most prominent clubs, the Northern Seahorse Pickleball Club (NSPC) and the Lanang Pickleball Club (LPC), recently faced off in a friendly and exciting pickleball match at the MyCentre sports complex on Jalan Harmoni.
The event’s primary goal was to encourage sportsmanship and foster a sense of community while sharing a passion for the sport in the form of friendly doubles and singles games — regardless of an individual’s skill level.
“The aim was not only to promote pickleball as a sport but to also build lasting friendships and a supportive community among players.
“This match was a great example of how sports can bring people together, and we intend to organise more events like this in the future,” said Raymond Guan Zhen Wee, president of NSPC.
Meanwhile, LPC president Daniel Iing Shii Ngie expressed his appreciation for the competition, remarking, “It was wonderful to see so many passionate players come together.
“This event helped our members to improve on their skills while having fun. We look forward to more opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts.”
It also featured an informal coaching session led by experienced players for beginners and intermediate players to refine their techniques.
Though no official winners were declared at the end of the day, the true victory lay in the shared experiences and friendships formed throughout the event – in the form of mutual respect and sportsmanship.
Looking to the future, both NSPC and LPC are already planning future collaborations to continue spreading the joy of pickleball not only in Sibu but throughout the region.
