MIRI: An elderly foreign woman was killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and a car along the Pan Borneo Highway at KM883 Bintulu-Miri here recently.
Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred on Apr 8 at around 8.47 pm, involving a Honda City and a motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigation found that the driver of the Honda City, a 34-year-old man, had collided with a motorcycle.
“The motorcycle was ridden by a 34-year-old foreign man, with a 63-year-old foreign woman as the pillion passenger,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the 63-year-old victim sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police did not disclose the extent of the motorcyclist’s injuries, but confirmed that the car driver was unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
