KUCHING: The water supply disruptions in several areas in the Betong Division since last Sunday (May 16) were due to pipe leaks resulting from construction work on the Pan Borneo Highway in the Simpang Pusa area.
The Rural Water Supply Department said the responsible contractor would be reconnecting the pipes immediately in the affected areas yesterday (May 17).
“The affected areas are throughout the longhouse and private areas from Simpang Bajau to Simpang Pusa and Debak.
“Water was delivered by the department and the contractor until the situation returned to normal.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and greatly appreciate the patience of users,” the Rural Water Supply Department said in a statement yesterday.
It added consumers would be informed of the latest update through the department’s social media platform.
“Users can also contact the call centre at 082-262211 for the latest information and update,” it added.
