MIRI: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak will unveil its full list of candidates for the upcoming 15th general election during its Jelajah Mega Harapan in Miri today (Nov 1).
Party president Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim and several top party leaders including deputy president Rafizi Ramli are expected to attend at the programme.
PKR Sarawak chairman Roland Engan told a press conference here on Monday, the party was awaiting approval from the state government to allow Rafizi to fly to Sarawak for the event (Jelajah Mega Harapan).
“Rafizi’s entry is awaiting for Sarawak government approval and we hope this time around perhaps the ban is lifted so that he can join us for the Jelajah Harapan event,” said Roland.
Rafizi was among several PKR leaders from Malaya who were blacklisted from entering the state during the Balingian by-election in 2014.
Meanwhile, Anwar will announce the full list of PKR candidates that will be contesting in Sarawak in the general election (GE15).
“The announcement (of the party’s candidates for Sarawak seats), will be held at Jin Hold Apartment at 4.15pm Tuesday, shortly after he arrives in Miri from Kuching,” Roland said.
Anwar’s flight is scheduled to arrive Miri Airport at 3.30pm.
After the announcement, the candidates are expected to sign a loyalty pledge before the party president.
Later in the evening, Anwar will hold a walkabout session cum ceramah at Taman Tunku (in front of Boulevard Trading) and another event at a parking space in front of Miri Waterfront Commercial centre before flying back to Kuala Lumpur.
Nomination for the 15th general election has been fixed for November 5 while polling will be held on Nov 19. Early polling for voters among the Armed.
Forces, Police and relevant officials will be held on November 15.
