PANTU: A new secondary school has been proposed for construction here to cater to the future educational needs of students in the area.
Sri Aman Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Doris Brodie said the proposal was raised during a recent Parliament sitting and is currently under consideration by the relevant authorities.
She said the matter was also discussed with the Pantu District Office and local community leaders during a meeting held recently at the district office.
“Although the construction may not take place in the immediate future, the planning has been initiated and efforts to realise the project will continue,” she said when officiating at the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pantu here on Friday.
Meanwhile, Doris emphasised that close cooperation between the school, parents and the community is vital in ensuring the success of the education system, particularly at the grassroots level.
She said continued support from parents through the PIBG platform can help schools implement various initiatives to improve students’ academic performance while also nurturing well-rounded and competitive individuals.
“PIBG plays an important role as a bridge between the school and parents. Through close cooperation, we can ensure every student receives the best support to achieve excellence in education,” she said.
During the event, she also announced a Rural Minor Project (MRP) contribution of RM10,000 to the PIBG fund of SK Pantu to support the implementation of various educational programmes and student development initiatives at the school.
