SIEM REAP, Cambodia: The plane carrying the 40 Sarawakians and three Sabahans freed by Cambodian authorities has taken off from Siem Reap International Airport.
The plane left at 10.50am local time.
They are on board a chartered flight QD803.
Accompanying them are Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah who led a team of officials from Sarawak, including Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Sarawak Foreign Affairs Ministry director Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh.
They were sent off by Cambodian Senior Minister in Charge of Special Mission Datuk Othsman Hassan and International Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) head Datuk Dr Mustapha Ahmad Marican at the airport.
The plane is expected to arrive at the Kuching International Airport VIP terminal at 1.30pm.
