KUCHING: Playmaker Football Academy ends 2025 on a high note, expanding its player base and deepening local football ties.
The academy has enjoyed a remarkable year of growth and community involvement in 2025, seeing its player numbers rise from 38 to 65 – a 71 per cent increase.
In a statement issued by the academy pointed out that the growth reflects the trust of parents and the passion of their players, supported by a strong foundation laid since the academy’s inception.
“A big part of that foundation is owed to Mygeo Sdn Bhd, whose consistent backing has enabled Playmaker to grow steadily, providing meaningful football development to the community.

“As a non-profit organisation, Playmaker is grateful for the ongoing encouragement and contributions from individuals and local partners, whose support whether through time, resources, or guidance has kept the academy moving forward with clear purpose,” the statement read.
Beyond player development, Playmaker also played an active role in community football events throughout the year.
Notably, the academy helped organise a veterans’ football tournament at Kelab Rekreasi Petroliam, featuring teams from various government agencies and clubs in Miri.
The event was honoured by the presence of Mulu state assemblyman, Datuk Gerawat Gala, adding significance to the Labour Day celebration earlier this year.
The academy’s commitment to football development extends beyond the city, with contributions made to SMK Long Lama in the Baram area, providing jerseys and football kits to rural students, giving the students better access and opportunities in the sport they love.
Despite a busy football calendar, including the PETRONAS Youth Tournament involving academies from across all districts, Playmaker managed to organise friendly matches with local schools such as SK Muip, SK Lepo Ajai, and SK Merbau.

The academy also welcomed students from an international school to foster a broader football community.
Looking ahead, Playmaker remains focused on quality training and sustainable growth. While inquiries for new enrolments continue to come in, the academy is committed to maintaining high training standards and not overloading sessions to ensure meaningful development for every player.
With the ongoing support of Mygeo Sdn Bhd and the dedication of players and partners, Playmaker Football Academy looks forward to another year of building strong foundations for the future of football.
