KUCHING: Plaza Merdeka will once again be transformed into a hub of lights, colours, and festivities as it plays host to the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025 from Sept 26 to Oct 5.
The 10-day celebration, held in conjunction with the Carpenter Street Mooncake Festival, is jointly organised by the Kuching Suriamas Dance and Music Fans Association and the Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN).
This year’s edition promises a vibrant line-up of activities catering to art lovers, families, music enthusiasts, and food fans.
A key highlight will be the nightly Gifted Art Exhibition, featuring works by more than 12 talented KATSN artists whose paintings and crafts will be available for sale to support their independence and confidence.
Other activities include a children’s colouring contest, a kids cheongsam contest on Oct 4, another colouring contest on Oct 5, and a special Chinese orchestra performance on Sept 28.
Food enthusiasts will not be left out, with a mooncake-making demonstration and competition led by Master Chef Goh Ah Seng on Oct 3.
“This event is more than just a festival — it is about celebrating culture, nurturing talent, and bringing the Kuching community together,” said Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok, chairman of the Kuching Suriamas Dance and Music Fans Association and advisor to KATSN in a statement today.
Members of the public are encouraged to join the activities and register for contests by contacting Mr Zaidi at 019-8143065 or Mdm Pung at 012-8865396, as organisers invite families, friends, and visitors to come together, enjoy mooncakes, and immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere that makes the Mid-Autumn Festival a cherished tradition.
