Anwar pays respects to late Kamil Misuari’s bereaved family

KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today paid his respects to the family of the late Datuk Kamil Misuari, husband of Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

Anwar arrived in Kuching from Bintulu at about 5:00 pm and proceeded directly from Kuching International Airport (KIA) to Nancy’s official residence at Taman Serira, Petra Jaya.

The Prime Minister spent approximately about half an hour at the residence.

“This is a visit to the family of a friend. I came to extend my condolences and to pray that the family is granted patience, strength and fortitude in facing this difficult time.

“May the soul of the late Kamil be forgiven, showered with Allah SWT’s mercy, and placed among the righteous,” he said when met today.

He prayed they would be given strength and patience during this difficult time.

Among those accompanying Anwar were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

Kamil passed away on Thursday (June 18) and his remains were flown from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching on Friday (June 19) before being brought to Nancy’s official residence at Taman Serira, Petra Jaya.

He was laid to rest at the Samariang Islamic Cemetery on the same day.

Earlier today, Anwar officiated the ‘Majlis Penyerahan Cek Penukaran Status Pelabuhan Bintulu dari Pelabuhan Persekutuan kepada Pelabuhan Negeri’ event at Menara Kidurong, Bintulu Port Authority.
