KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been briefed on the Sarawak Gas Roadmap and tax incentives proposed by the Sarawak Development Bank, which have the potential to strengthen the state’s economy.

“I have been informed that the proposed plan is capable of generating widespread benefits for the people of Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole,” he said in a post on his Facebook page on Saturday.
Anwar, who was seen chairing the Special Sarawak State Development Meeting at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, received the presentation positively.
The meeting was also attended by both federal and state ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Also discussed were the direction and priorities of development projects in Sarawak, to ensure alignment with federal planning.

He added that during the meeting, he emphasised on the need for the entire government machinery—both at federal and state levels—to be prepared for the uncertainties of the global economy, particularly in light of the recently announced tariffs by the United States.
“All plans must be swiftly translated into implementation to strengthen the internal resilience of our economy against any external shocks or actions that may disrupt our continuity,” he stressed.
He expressed hope that this collaborative effort would continue to nurture prosperity and well-being for all the people of the Land of the Hornbills.
Apart from attending the meeting, Anwar also attended Madani Aidilfitri Celebration 2025 at the Stadium Perpaduan Kuching and Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) at Wisma SABATI during his official one-day working visit to Kuching.
