SERIAN: PMG Pharmacy Serian has become the newest Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) strategic partner, bringing the total number of partners to 18 in the constituency.
Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that it would benefit a total of 20,462 Serian KGC holders.
Other than the pharmacy, she noted that local KGC strategic partners include Amber Optics, Segak Cut Barber, and a coffin supplier.
“Our KGC strategic partners will be providing various discounts and rebates for our KGC holders.

“The initiative is a way for the corporate and private sectors to give back to the community, particularly for senior citizens.
“The discounts and rebates are based on our strategic partners’ own willingness to contribute back to our community in the form of items or services.”
Fatimah said this when officiating the presentation of the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) Strategic Partner plaque at PMG Pharmacy Serian Piazza on Friday (June 7).
She stressed that among all government initiatives, KGC is the most well-known among locals, especially citizens from rural areas.
“This is a continuous process that the ministry is doing, which is to look for more strategic partners throughout Sarawak to ease the KGC’s initiative to provide products and services at a discounted price.
“We will look to the development of our strategic partners to increase the welfare index for the senior citizens in Sarawak.”
On the same note, Fatimah said that by the first of July, the Sarawak government will be implementing the Senior Citizen Health Benefits (SCHB) for senior citizens by providing RM500 per year.
She stated that the senior citizens who are eligible for the benefits must fulfil the criteria required, which is for Sarawakians who are age 60 years and older, listed as B40 and M40 with a household income of RM7,000 and below, and are not under any medical coverage from any agencies.
The Sarawak government, she added, will be working with the private clinics who will be the panels for this initiative to provide healthcare services for KGC holders who applied for the aid.
