MUKAH: Politeknik Mukah (PMU) has proposed a partnership with the Bintulu chapter of the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs’ Council (DUBS) to strengthen ties between industry and higher-education institutions through a range of educational and training activities.
According to a PMU statement, the collaboration was intended to benefit both parties by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and the development of practical skills.
“Among the initiatives under discussion is the placement of PMU students in industrial attachments – enabling them to gain hands-on experience in their fields of study and to enhance their employability.
“The same opportunity will be extended to PMU lecturers, allowing them to stay up-to-date with industry developments and to align their teaching with current needs,” it said.
PMU has also invited DUBS Bintulu to review and help improve PMU’s curriculum, ensuring that degree programmes remain relevant and equip graduates with the skills demanded by the job market.
“In addition, DUBS representatives have been asked to join PMU’s Industry Advisory Community (IAC), where they will share insights on industry trends, innovation and best practices that will benefit both students and staff,” it added.
Both organisations have agreed to explore shared use of their core facilities and to exchange expertise through guest lectures, seminars, webinars, technical clinics and innovation workshops.
They will jointly design and implement training and certification programmes, including upskilling and reskilling initiatives, and will also collaborate on research and development projects to foster innovation and identify new opportunities.
“The goal is to leverage PMU’s academic expertise and the capacity of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) to drive sustainable practices and enhance the technical skills of our community, workforce and students,” the statement added.
Further discussions between PMU and DUBS will be held to finalise the terms of this mutually beneficial partnership.
