KUALA LUMPUR: Two individuals, including a Perikatan Nasional (PN) Member of Parliament (MP), will be charged on Monday over alleged corruption involving a Kedah state-owned cattle farming joint venture.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, said the MP, together with a businessman, will be charged at the Shah Alam Court in Selangor.

“The MP will face a charge of abetment in accepting bribes under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009, while the businessman will be charged with two counts of soliciting and accepting bribes under Section 16(a)(A) of the same act,” he said in a statement today.

The MACC in Kedah arrested the MP on Thursday for investigation over a case involving a state government-owned cattle farming joint venture.

According to sources, the investigation, which has been ongoing since February, involves allegations of receiving about RM400,000 in return for assisting in securing land usage rights for the feedlot project.

An investigation paper had been opened following a complaint received on February 10, 2025, and that statements had been recorded from 15 witnesses. – BERNAMA
