BAU: Police will intensify coordination with the GABMA Serikin Post Border Regiment to clamp down on cross-border crime, following a courtesy visit at the district police headquarters (IPD) yesterday (Jan 19).

The visit saw GABMA Serikin Post commanding officer Lt Col Shahrul Rizal Samsudin calling on Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, signalling a united security front along the Malaysia-Indonesia border.

Senior officers from Bau IPD were present, alongside a delegation from the GABMA Serikin Post Border Regiment comprising intelligence officers and support personnel.

The closed-door discussions focused on tightening joint strategies, speeding up intelligence sharing and streamlining coordination between the police and the armed forces to disrupt smuggling routes and other cross-border criminal activities in the district.

Both sides also agreed on strengthening communication channels to ensure crime prevention operations are swift, targeted and seamless.

The GABMA Serikin Post Border Regiment said it will continue working closely with Bau police through active intelligence sharing and operational support to strengthen border security, public safety and national sovereignty.
