SARATOK: Police arrested two men over the theft of oil palm fruits in Kabong, with one of them testing positive for drugs.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the suspects, aged 36 and 28, were detained in separate operations on Feb 22 and Feb 25.
He said the arrests were made following a report lodged by a 30-year-old construction contractor, who claimed that oil palm fruits belonging to his father-in-law had been stolen from a plantation in Sungai Saung, Kabong.
Investigations found that the suspects had allegedly carried out the theft on multiple occasions, using a Ford Ranger pickup truck to transport the stolen fruits for sale at a nearby palm oil collection ramp.
“One of the suspects admitted to taking the fruits on four occasions and selling them at a ramp near the Sessang bridge,” he said.
Police also seized a Ford Ranger to assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
