SIBU: The Organising Committee of the 2026 Asia Pacific Lions Leaders Summit (APLLS) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, to brief him on the progress of the summit preparations.
APLLS Organising Chairperson, Datuk Betty Wong Yieng, who is also Past District Lions International 308-A2 Governor, highlighted that the summit would be held grandeur in Sibu next year from July 17 to 19.
According to her, the event is expected to welcome over 800 Lions leaders and members from 17 countries and regions.
She pointed out that the summit was not only a major regional event of Lions Clubs International, but also an important platform for Sibu to showcase its town profile and cultural charm.
“The committee request for the support of the Sibu Police in areas of security, traffic control, safety, and public order to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the summit,” she said.
ACP Zulkipli commended the progress of preparations and assured that the police force will extend the necessary assistance within its scope of responsibility.
Among those present were Past District Lions International 308-A2 Governor, Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua, First Vice District Lions International 308-A2 Governor, Datuk Jimmy Tie Hien Hwa, Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan First Vice President, Boston Ho Teck Howe, Organising Committee Secretary, Albert Tiang Ming Ing and other senior police
