BAU: Police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly acting as an online gambling top-up agent during operations at a convenience store in Pekan Jambusan here on Friday (Feb 20).

Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the arrest was made at about 6.30 pm under ‘Ops Dadu’ by a team from the district’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

“The suspect was inspected while seated in front of the premises and was believed to be involved in online gambling top-up activities.

“He was subsequently detained together with items seized during the operation,” he said in a statement.

Police seized one Infinix smartphone and RM35 in cash of various denominations.

The suspect, identified as Muhamad Aiman Effendi, 19, from Kampung Kandis Baru, Siniawan, is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Background checks revealed that the suspect has two previous records under the same offence in Kota Sentosa and Padungan earlier this year.
