SARATOK: Police carried out integrated crime prevention operations across several hotspot areas here on Thursday (Jan 22) as part of efforts to curb index crimes and enhance public safety.

Saratok Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said the two-hour operations, conducted from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm, involved roadblocks along the Pan Borneo Highway and patrols around markets, villages and residential areas in Kabong, Saratok and Roban.

Among the key objectives of the operations were to reduce index crime cases, increase police visibility, conduct checks on suspicious individuals and vehicles, curb traffic offences – particularly involving motorcyclists – and detect wanted persons linked to criminal, narcotics and commercial offences.

A total of 16 personnel were deployed during the operations.

During the operations, police checked 80 individuals and 78 vehicles and issued 26 summonses for various traffic offences.

No arrests or seizures were made.

Mathew said such operations would continue to be carried out periodically to maintain public order and prevent criminal activities in the district.
