KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in preserving national security and peace.
In conjunction with the 218th Police Day celebration, Wan Junaidi said the occasion holds a personal significance for him, as he once served in the police force.
He joined PDRM in 1964 and later served with the Police Field Force (PPH) from 1968 to 1973, during which he was also deployed to the Rajang Security Command (RASCOM) – a key operational zone established to combat the communist insurgency during the state of emergency in Sarawak.
“I was once on the front lines as a member of the Police Field Force, operating under challenging and high-risk conditions to ensure the safety of our state and country.
“Those who served in the PPH and RASCOM would understand the magnitude of the sacrifices made — leaving families behind and facing threats, all for the people’s safety,” he said in a statement.
Wan Junaidi stressed that national peace is the result of the continuous efforts of PDRM and the collective support of the public, echoing this year’s theme: ‘Police and Community: Shared Security’.
He said every police officer, whether stationed in urban areas, at the borders, or deep in the interior, plays a crucial role in maintaining national security.
“It is our shared responsibility to support and appreciate their efforts.
“To all PDRM personnel, especially those still serving on the ground, thank you for your sacrifices.
“The nation is indebted to you. Happy 218th Police Day,” he added.
