TATAU: A police air wing helicopter has helped deliver food aid to flood victims in the remote areas here.

Tatau District Administrative Officer Raden Azamry Raden Perhan, said the delivery is part of ongoing efforts to ensure people in remote areas receive their basic needs.

“The AW 139 helicopter involved in this mission was piloted by Supt Awang Hasbullah Awang Ghazali, along with co-pilot DSP Aris Hadi Alili, air observer SI Roger Kidim, and SM Chelodi Renuan,” he said.

In addition to helicopter deliveries, Raden said food aid is also being sent to other areas such as Kakus, Ulu Anap, Kem Gabong, and Long Beyak using different methods.

He said the food is being delivered by road, river, and land, with the cooperation of various agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare, Tatau District Office, Tatau District Police Headquarters, Tatau/Sebauh District Education Office, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force.

“A total of 7,293 kilograms or 663 food packages have been sent to the affected areas of Nanga Tau and Penyarai, from Jan 30 to Feb 1,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation given by various parties who also assisted in distributing aid to more inaccessible areas.

“With hard work and this spirit of cooperation, essential aid can be delivered quickly to flood victims, showing the importance of coordination between government agencies and the community in facing disaster challenges,” said Raden.
