Police hunt four suspects in house robbery

KUCHING: Police are tracking down four suspects involved in a robbery at a house along Jalan Bako, Petra Jaya, here early this morning.

According to Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the incident was reported by one of the victims, a 60-year-old man.

“The incident occurred on May 2 at about 2:45 am.

“Four masked individuals entered the house, and tied up the complainant and his family members,” he said in a statement today.

He said a struggle took place after the complainant managed to break free from his restraints.

“As a result, the complainant sustained a cut below the chin,” he added.

Police are now working to identify and apprehend all four suspects.

“The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years, and also carries whipping or a fine,” said Alexson.

He urged members of the public with information related to the incident to contact the Kuching District Police Control Centre at 082-244444 or investigating officer, Insp. Muhammad Salji Abdul Hamid at 013-2575814.
