KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down a local man who acted aggressively and injured an officer of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) with a knife during an operation at Jalan Kerinchi, Bangsar here on Wednesday.
Brickfields District Police Chief, ACP Hoo Chang Hook, said the incident occurred at 5.08 pm at a car wash premises next to Bangsar South Mall when the 48-year-old AADK officer suffered injuries to his palm and right thumb after being attacked by the suspect.
“The suspect, a 46-year-old man, was initially detained and instructed to undergo a urine screening test. However, he refused to cooperate and acted aggressively to escape before injuring the victim,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the victim is in stable condition and is receiving treatment in a general ward at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM).
According to Hoo, police had established the suspect’s identity, and believed to be residing in Cheras, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or other dangerous means.
Members of the public with information are urged to contact investigating officer, Insp. Syed Hamiz Azfar Syed Mohd Najib, at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters or any nearby police station to assist in the investigation. – BERNAMA
