SARIKEI: Police arrested two local men in connection with a burglary and vehicle theft case reported on Apr 2.
Sarikei police chief Supt Aswandy Anis said that with their arrests, police managed to resolved both cases.
The suspects, aged 37 and 46, were picked up on Apr 3 and 7 by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Sarikei and Bintangor, following intelligence gathering and public tip-offs.
He added that the arrests were carried out under operations codenamed ‘Op Pintu’, ‘Op Lejang’, and ‘Op Kesan’.
“Acting on leads, police recovered several stolen items including a Perodua Myvi, a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle, an electric oven, a smartphone, a shotgun with ammunition, and a toolbox containing various items.
“Background checks showed that the suspects have a combined total of nine prior criminal records involving drug and theft-related offenses,” he said.
Aswandy said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary and Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft. Both suspects have been remanded to facilitate investigations into the cases.
